Please
find below NAN's official response to Mr. Sellman from the office of
the National Executive Director of National Action Network:
The Executive Director's office of the National Action Network is
in receipt of the open letter from Mr. Sellman but it is erroneous and
we would like the record to reflect that the NAN HIV/AIDS Awareness
Committee was not suspended. Mr. Joseph Sellman was suspended for
insubordination and our commitment to HIV/AIDS awareness has not
wavered, nor does our effort revolve around one person. In fact, Rev.
Sharpton was named National Spokesperson for National Black HIV/AIDS
Awareness Day (NBHAAD) on February 7, 2012 and NAN is planning for a
strong 2012 agenda and collaboration with key HIV organizations and
groups within New York and nationally.
Tamika D. Mallory
National Executive Director
National Action Network
